HKK Open Squad Session - May 2025

Hi everyone,

I just want to say a big well done to everyone who came to yesterday’s Squad training session! It was great to see some new faces really giving their best in both kata and kumite training.

Remember, it’s important to enjoy your karate and be brave enough to try new skills. Doing this without fear helps you build confidence in your balance and distance for your targets.

In my early days as a member of HKK, our senior squad members always supported us, helping us gain valuable experience to improve our skills for competitions. Yesterday was a perfect example of this, with Phebe taking the lead and encouraging Janelle in kata and our young Kumite girls in kumite. I really appreciate her effort!

A big thank you to Sensei Max and Sam for leading a fantastic session, and a special shout-out to our VIP guest, Sensei Jennie, for helping us stay updated on the rules of competition karate.

Thank you, Sensei Collin, for sharing your knowledge and stories about Higashi squad history with us.
