EKF Membership, Finances & BKF Clarification
Dear Members,
I am sure you will be aware of the ongoing issues within English karate and the impact this is having on our members and the wider community.
The purpose of this email is to set out a few simple facts and dispel some of the misinformation, accusations, and gossip that are circulating on social media and other platforms. Despite what you may have heard, or might have been told, the facts are:
The EKF is not bankrupt.
All members’ money is safe and held in EKF bank accounts. Our balances are in line with what we would expect for this time of year.
All money is fully accounted for and continues to be overseen by the EKF accountant, Mr Andreas Michaelidis.
No money has been paid in any litigation case at any time.
The EKF remains active members of the BKF.
All EKF activities continue, and we remain fully functional.
BKF situation
Our membership of the BKF currently provides our membership to the WKF. Hence, when this is threatened, our sporting members understandably become anxious.
The BKF previously posted that there was no English group in membership of the BKF and gave the impression that the EKF was no longer a member. This posting was made without the wider BKF Board’s authority, as was the removal of the EKF logo from the BKF website and social media.
Such is the severity of the BKF’s actions that we have engaged lawyers who have made, and continue to make, representations on our behalf.
The BKF posts have now been removed, and it has been made very clear that the EKF remains a member of the BKF. We are pleased to confirm that the EKF logo has now been restored on the BKF website. Some irresponsible social media posts remain both incorrect and unhelpful.
Throughout this period, we have had the unwavering and unequivocal support of Karate Scotland and the Northern Ireland Karate Board, for which we are immensely grateful. Their solidarity has strengthened our resolve to continue working in the best interests of our members and the sport as a whole.
In closing, we thank members for their continued support and assure you that we will keep defending the EKF from these unwarranted and undemocratic attacks.
The EKF Board
